Chris Steward thinks poors don’t need food banks, just shooting, probably
I have personally not met Conservative Councillor Chris Steward, mainly for two reasons: number 1, I do not live in York, and number 2, he sounds like a complete bag of turd.
Anyhoo, this rather chubby man has obviously never been to a food bank which is A GOOD THING because he would probably have stolen all the cake, if there were cake. He seems to think that food banks just give poors an excuse to spend ALL THEIR MONEY on fags and booze, and he thinks it so hard, he even goes on the Twitter and says it.
Here’s what old chubby chops said in real words from his well-fed mouth:
“The fact some give food to food banks, merely enables people who can’t budget (an issue where schools should do much more and I have said the council should) or don’t want to, to have more money to spend on alcohol, cigarettes etc.”
He also reckons that living standards have “surged”, yes “surged” in recent years and really, we don’t need no food banks, and the poors aren’t really poors, they’re just lazy, feckless, smoking boozers who don’t know how to budget.
“We have lots of poor people, but living standards have surged over the years. There is certainly no need for food banks; no-one in the UK is starving and I think food banks insult the one billion in the world that go to bed hungry every day and ignore the fact a child dies of hunger every three seconds.”
That’s right, hungry people who can’t afford food because the government has stopped your benefits and stopped your chances of getting a job. You don’t need food banks, you just need PERSPECTIVE. So when you’re queuing up for a food parcel to feed your children, think of those dying in Africa.
And while you’re at it, think of what Councillor Chris Steward is having for dinner tonight, because it will probably be more than you can eat in a week. Isn’t it lovely that even the ‘grassroots’ Conservatives are taking this ‘strivers’ versus ‘scroungers’ nonsense to heart? While no doubt David Cameron will be forced to say ‘this man is talking out of his over-sized arse’ (or something like that), you can’t hide the fact that this fits nicely with the over-arching rhetoric that if you don’t have any money, it’s your own fault.
So if you don’t have any money – and there’s loads of money out there – where has it all gone? Oh look, it’s all gone to these people. And on train fares, which are so huge you can’t afford to travel to that badly paid job in the middle of nowhere. Or petrol. You choose.
So while Chris Steward’s party are helping the millionaires get a massive tax cut (to say thanks for their support), Chris Steward is kicking the poor while they’re down. More people are using food banks because of Conservative policies, and the Conservatives are blaming THEM for it. Amazing. What’s more, they’ve even got their FATTEST people to say it, just so that it looks even more ironic.
So a message for Chris Steward. When you’ve finished that cake, why not pop down to your local food bank tonight and go talk to some real people, instead of talking to that bakery shop window. Go and ask them about their living conditions that you think have ‘surged’. And why not offer them some of your food while you’re at it.
